Kelvin Koh

Colonel Kelvin Koh, Director Nexus, is constantly seeking and creating interesting projects for Singaporeans to express their views and feelings about Singapore; to feel good and feel proud about being Singaporean. ciNE65 is the newest kid on the block.
A film-lover, Kelvin is captivated by films that are motivational, insightful and have a strong storyline -- in short, films that are conversation-starters. This is probably why he likes history and war epic films (such as "Red Cliff") which he believes help viewers appreciate the past and understand why things are the way they are today. But Kelvin is not just a serious buff who talks about serious things. He also enjoys watching animation and light-hearted films with his wife and two children -- as long as the films carry positive messages and allow him to have some Daddy's talktime with his two boys! For instance, he finds "Kung Fu Panda" not just a funny cartoon, but one that teaches determination, tenacity and the importance of kinship.

Irene Ang 洪爱玲

Irene Ang became a household name in Singapore (and some say Malaysia) as Rosie Phua in Singapore's longest running sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd and subsequently Phua Chu Kang Sdn Bhd, for which she was awarded Best Comedy Performance by an Actress at the Asian Television Awards.

From the Mabel in I am Lobang King to Wan Choo in Beauty World and Guan Yim Mah in the V Conference, Irene’s affinity with the masses is evident when she was voted 8Days Readers' Poll's Favorite Comedian and Best Makeover Award.

Irene also created her own stand-up show The V Conference in 2007 and its subsequent yearly installments The Return of the V 2008, The Extraordinary V 2009 , The VLEE Conference 2010, and earned her the reputation of “one of the most engaging stand-up comedy shows of the year” by channelnewsasia.com!

Irene also lent her genius to creating the inaugural Asian Camp Comedy Festival 06 & 08 which saw international acts convening in Singapore for the first time.

Constantly finding ways to give back to society, Irene has found her element in speaking to people of all ages and stature in society, including the Singapore Management University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Fujitsu Asia, the Singapore Girls’ Home, National Library Board, MediaCorp Radio, MediaCorp Studios, CapitaLand, Prudential, SMRT, NTUC, ERA, Nestle and Hewlett Packard. Her ability to connect via sharing her stories to success is evident.

In that same year, Irene was also invited to speak at the Global Speakers Summit 2005, organized by International Federation for Professional Speakers and hosted by Asia Speakers Association of Singapore.

Irene has devoted her time to social causes by lending her voice as Ambassador to various social campaigns like Graciousness Campaign with Land Transport Authority, Voice of Kindness with Singapore’s Kindness Movement, It Starts Today Anti-Recession Campaign for Young Business Leaders as well as taking the seat of Creative Director behind the National Day Pledge Moment 2009.

Jennifer Chan

Jennifer Chan, Director of Resilience and Marketing at the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), enjoys working on projects that help us reflect on and celebrate Singapore or being Singaporean. She loves film because of its power to captivate the senses and transport the viewer into another world. Besides good food, she considers going to the cinema as one of the keen pleasures in life. She particularly likes films that evoke strong feelings, trigger thought, lift the human spirit, or tickle the funny bone.

Genevieve Loh

As the resident film journalist and movie critic of Mediacorp’s TODAY newspaper, Genevieve Loh watches movies for a living. Many different films of many different genres over many different lengths and told in many different languages.
Thankfully, she loves them all enough to write passionately about them, in spite of having to spend most of her time in darkened closed-off rooms and not having nary an in-flight entertainment choice on long haul plane rides. What keeps her sane throughout the good, the bad and the downright snooze-worthy awful? Those gems of a movie that inspire, enlighten, bring joy and adamantly keep to that all important rule: Story. Story. Story.

Genevieve has also had the opportunity to interview many international and Oscar-winning movie stars, chin-wag with many an award-winning filmmaker and of course, critique films these famous and fabulous people make. She has also covered prestigious film festivals such as Cannes and Venice, as well as award shows like the Golden Globes.   The Flick Chick also maintains the Todayonline movie blog, “Rated G” ( http://blogs.todayonline.com/ratedg/) and can be heard on Mediacorp Radio 938Live’s Lunch Box every alternate Friday at 11.20am chatting about flicks.

As the resident presenter for Channel News Asia’s AM Live!  Zoom In movie review segment every Monday and Friday, the movie buff hopes she somewhat helps you decide where to spend your 10 cinema dollars every week.

In addition to her undying love of movies, pop culture, James Franco, bad jokes and U2, Genevieve has great faith in the ever-blossoming Singapore film industry. And is beyond thrilled to get to play some part, however small, in it.
